The Algorithmic Grid is a theoretical proposal for the placement of structural planes that are harmonically related to each other.

It combines two proportional systems, the Golden Mean and the square root of 2, to generate an almost infinite variety of spatial variations using a relatively limited palate of individual plane sizes. The same pinciple underlies many of the element designs produced by CODA.

The example illustrated here is for a three storey structure, yielding double and single height spaces. The grid can also be applied at the micro level to locate elements within a particular interior space.
