Bootle Town Hall, near Liverpool, is a famous local landmark. Built in 1886, the Town Hall also contained a local library and museum. Following its closure in 1970 the city council converted the museum galleries into offices, covering over or removing many of the original features
Our proposal for a new museum combines the existing galleries with new display areas at ground and first floor. Together they present the original 19th century collections with local themes that describe key events from 1900 to the present day. The design also includes areas for local community use, arts workshops and temporary exhibition spaces, providing a major cultural focus for this inner city neighborhood.
The final design was presented to Sefton Council as a masterplan for implementation in phased stages.
