The practice regularly undertakes small residential works where there is opportunity for a creative design solution.
Illlustrated is a current project involving a new rear extension and associated replanning to the ground floor of a typical London terrace house. The design process normally begins with an analysis of the existing arrangement, highlighting the potential for visual focal points and stronger definition to the principal spaces. We then develop a range of alternative designs in close discussion with the client.
In this example the preferred design is a glazed rear extension using natural materials and contemporary styling to provide an interesting contrast with the Victiorian facade. A more traditional conservatory form was explored in earlier designs. Alterations to the ground floor reinforce the function of this area as the major entertaining space.
