This commission involved major refurbishment and extension works to an early 20th century London townhouse.

We recommended that an existing lean-to kitchen be replaced with a new structure that would create much needed additional space and also provide a central ‘hub’ for the entertaining, dining and family areas of the first floor.

Extending the original kitchen footprint to the property boundary yielded additional area. A sandblasted glass skylight over the centre of the kitchen enhances the sense of space, coupled with a floor-to-ceiling, double-glazed screen overlooking the garden and extension of the ceramic floor to form an outdoor terrace.

The completed project was a finalist for the Royal Institute of British Architects 2002 'Small Project of the Year' Award, and featured in 'Architecture and Building: A Review of London Architects and their Buildings' (2nd Edition).
