Located within a medieval church, the Tarbat Discovery Centre illustrates Dark Age life and provides interpretive support for an ongoing program of excavations that have uncovered one of Europe's largest Pictish settlements.

At the heart of the centre is the Treasury Gallery housing the most precious finds. Flanked by decorative iron gates, visitors to the Treasury Gallery can see Pictish sculptures dating from the 8th century displayed in custom-designed cases. The Centre is unique in the Highlands through its use of modern, high quality materials and state-of-the-art audio-visual installations within an historic ecclesiastical environment.

Opened by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, the Centre was short-listed for the 2000 Silver Unicorn Award and the 2000 British Archaeological Awards.
